Flying with Children From Blackpool Airport ...

So many parents dread flying with children, so fear not, you're not alone and you needn't fear if you take a few moments to read through our helpful guide on travelling with children. Full of top tips on check-in, plane seats and making flying that little bit easier for you all.

Seats For Children ...

When booking your flight make sure you ask the Travel Agent about the airline's policy on seating for children and families so you can be as prepared as you can.

The bulkhead seats, found in the front of each cabin section, are normally reserved for families as these seats have facilities for small children and babies. However, the reason we suggest checking in advance is that sometimes these need to be pre-booked and with other airlines they are distributed at check-in on a first come, first served basis.

Getting To Blackpool Airport - preparing to leave ...

Like anything, when taking children anywhere, you need to make sure you leave plenty of time to get to the airport so you can check-in promptly and without any stress.

We seriously suggest that you work out how long it will take you to get to Blackpool Airport, working out your route carefully - try and investigate if there are any planned road works or diversions and make sure you pack a road map in your car too. Then, leave your house at least half an hour before you actually 'need' to. This way you'll be prepared for any emergency toilet stops and such like and still check-in in good time.

Flying With Children ...

So you've left home with plenty of time to spare, only to lose this extra time by trying to park your car.

That's why you need to book your airport parking in advance, and if you're really smart, pre-book a meet and greet parking service which is considered by many as the ultimate to getting your holiday off to a stress-free holiday!

Rid the thought of finding a remote car park and then getting your family onto a transfer bus, especially at night or in the rain, and instead drive straight up to the airport terminal. You drop your car off with the meet and greet Rep, who takes your car to a secure car park, and then who brings it back ready and waiting for you on your return.

Do make sure you ask at check-in if there are any spare seats on the flight. If so ask, if the bulkhead seats are already taken, to be seated next to the empty seats. This way you can all spread out, giving the children more room, they might even be able to curl up and get some sleep.

Once you are in the departure lounge be prepared to move through to your boarding gate, when displayed, so you can board first onto the aircraft. Families are boarded first to give you time to settle and ask any questions to the cabin crew.

Buying Baby Food & Water Essentials Overseas ...

Buying Baby Foods Overseas

Don't worry about flying overseas with your baby and/or young toddler and not being able to purchase your usual formula milk or baby food. In the following sections we provide extremely useful information on purchasing your baby essentials like formula, nappies and safe drinking water.

Safe Drinking Water For Babies

It’s always worth, when flying with babies or very young children, to pack a certain amount of baby food like jars and formula in your suitcase. This is so you can arrive at your destination and get unpacked and settled before rushing off out in a panic trying to find emergency formula milk. Don't, due to baby's delicate tummy, give your baby tap water to drink when overseas. Give your baby bottled water for drinking. For making up formula also use bottled water and boil first as you would back home in the UK. When you buy bottled water it is very important to check that the bottled water you are buying contains no more than 30 Na of sodium. If you’re travelling to Spain you'll find that many of the pharmacies sell specially distilled water for babies.
Buying Formula Milk

Formula milk is readily available in Europe, however you will need to go to a pharmacy to buy it. Similar milk powder brands are available but do carry a different name, Cow & Gate in Spain for example is actually called Almiron. Any other queries about buying your particular brand of formula milk abroad should be asked to the manufacturer of your milk brand - call their telephone advice line on the pack of the milk packet.
Buying Jars Of Baby Food

Anyone travelling to mainland Europe will find it easy to buy baby food in jars. Across Europe a brand called Hero is a very available. Hipp is also readily available and so are products from Nestle. Local supermarkets, although if you are somewhere small then try a larger main supermarket, should all stock a good selection of baby foods and snacks. As will most pharmacies.

Nappies

Purchasing nappies overseas is easy. Just try any local supermarket where both main brands such as Huggies and Pampers are readily available. Do note however, that in many European Countries cotton nappies are very rare, particularly in Spain, so if you would normally use re-useable nappies then you might need to consider using disposables just whilst you are away.
